Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain is a psychotherapy program that takes place over twelve, 50-minute sessions. It can help you do four things:

  • Increase activity in meaningful activities

  • Manage pain flare-ups more effectively

  • Reduce worries about increased pain and injury

  • Improve overall quality of life

  1. CBT-CP sessions are structured around a central topic. Some topics include Relaxation Techniques, Cognitive Coping Skills, and Activities and Pacing.

Q. How long do I need to be in therapy for CBT-CP?

  1. The CBT-CP curriculum is 12 weeks long. After that, you and I will make a decision together about the desire to continue working together in therapy.

Q. How do I know CBT-CP will work for me?

  1. While no therapist can guarantee results of any treatment plan, CBT-CP is evidence-based and has been shown in multiple clinical trials to significantly improve quality of life and the negative impacts pain can have on people’s lives.
